Description

My Comments: It is with pleasure that Didgeridoo Passion partners with: Horizonde By Kelu. This is a really interesting collaboration, which changes from what we are used to seeing between a didgeridoo manufacturer and a recognized player. In the case of Nicolas and Kelu, they both work collaboratively in making the didgeridoo. The know-how of a manufacturer and a professional player in the same instrument. As Nicolas says so well: We mix our experiences, as players and manufacturers, to design and create 4-handed didgeridoos. It’s an enriching experience! The Horizonde by KELU didgeridoo are recognizable thanks to their logo, where Kelu's paw covers part of the foliage of the Horizonde tree.

A very beautiful didg, the lime wood is magnificent, the color contrast gives superb effects. The forged carbon adds a slightly more "aggressive" look with a nice 3D depth. Mouthpiece in ebony, basswood burl, forged carbon, oak

Comments from Kelu: This didgeridoo will suit many different styles due to its playability and resonance despite its large size. The bass is like a big hug, round and warm, the harmonic is just present enough to rebalance everything. Big T has quite exceptional graining for basswood and with its beautiful forged carbon finish. My little favorite.

Classification

This scale is the result of an air column/bell start ratio If we divide the diameter of the bell with that of the beginning of the air column we get a number between 1.5 and 3.5. We can classify all the didgeridoos in 4 large families. Each family groups the instruments with a similar character, simply based on the overall shape of the air column (conical/cylindrical) and on the diameter of the column (wide/narrow). The result is a simple and very reliable reading grid, making it easier to search and purchase on line.

The diameters are measured with a caliper, start of the air column after the mouthpîece. This ratio is very reliable for a didg having a air column with a 'smooth' internal work, in the case of a hollowed eucalyptus instrument it give an approach of the instrumental character.

Horizonde By Kelu

Didgeridoos made by Nicolas Aussel and Kelu

Horizonde What is it, who is it??? Nicolas Aussel tells us: Passionate about the world of horses since my adolescence, I followed professional studies to become a riding teacher. I came to the didgeridoo, or rather the didgeridoo came to me at the end of 2011 a little by chance. It's an instrument that immediately spoke to me: the sensations, vibrations and richness of this instrument awakened something deep within me. Since a young age I have enjoyed crafts and I love woodworking. It was therefore quite natural that I became interested in making these instruments and very quickly, a few weeks after this fabulous discovery, I started making didgeridoos, while following training as a riding instructor. It is self-taught that I practice this creative activity, with the constant concern to refine my techniques and improve the quality of the instruments, which makes my hands think for the pleasure of the ears!

Why Horizonde by KELU?

You may know him as the didgeridoo player called Kelu. It is with this artist and friend that we decided to create a rather special range of didgeridoo. The idea is to design instruments that inspire our dear Kelu. We mix our experiences, as players and manufacturers, to design and create 4-handed didgeridoos. It’s an enriching experience! KELU's Horizonde didgeridoo are recognizable thanks to their logo, where Kelu's paw covers part of the foliage of the Horizonde tree. Please note that it is not because Kelu makes didgeridoos that all the instruments that will see the light of day will be for his style of play. There should be something for all tastes and budgets.
