Romain, maker of traditional wind instruments from Corsica and the world.

Comment Romain Rancurel Does Giannoni make his flutes?

The bamboo is cut during the January moon and then dried for 3 years. Before starting the instrument, the bamboo is flamed, peeled and sanded, which densifies it, improves the sound and stabilizes it. The instruments are nourished with paraffin oil or sweet almond oil.

Each flute has a unique musicality due to its design, its dimensions and the quality of its wood.

In 2005, Romain began an apprenticeship with Hugo Casalonga in Pigna (Upper Corsica), who taught him the making of traditional Corsican flutes. Passionate about traditional wind instruments, his passion grew as he met and traveled. He now works on different traditional wind instruments such as the Sioux flute, bansuri, clarinet, horn flute (pivana, gemshorne)... Respecting time and the instrument.
