didgeridoo learning method
In short: "L'art du didgeridoo" (in French), the method by Gauthier Aubé: a 128-page book and 95 audio tracks to download, to play your first rhythms even if you are not a musician.
The method: This is the new version of Gauthier Aubé's didgeridoo method. More than just a method, this book is the guide to finding your way in the world of the didgeridoo!
It is organised in eleven separate, progressive lessons: you can discover or strengthen the basics of the drone in the first one, or go straight to the next, depending on your level. Gauthier explains in simple terms how to play the didgeridoo.
His aim: that the complete beginner and the intermediate player alike find what they need across its 128 pages.
What you receive: You receive the paper version of the book at home, then an email with a download link for the audio tracks.

| 3 chapters | 11 lessons | 95 audio tracks | 60 rhythms | 50 exercises |
| to introduce you to the world of the didgeridoo | organised like private lessons | illustrating the rhythms and exercises | to play, listen to and read | progressive and instructive |
Over the eleven lessons, you will master all the basics of the didgeridoo:
- Stabilise or refine your drone
- Place your lips precisely to control the harmonics
- Strengthen your rhythms with tongue attacks
- Acquire circular breathing step by step, so you never have to stop
- Use your voice to ornament your rhythms
- Develop your abdominal breathing to relax your body.
- Learn and discover dozens of new rhythms
- See that rhythms always form around your breathing…
- And I could go on with this list!
By the end of the book, you will have covered the essential techniques of didgeridoo playing. They will let you play your own rhythms, with no prior musical knowledge!
| But that's not all! |
|
Diagrams to illustrate: a picture is often worth a thousand words! You will find more than 60 diagrams and photos in this method. I have even added the MRI images I had taken while playing my didgeridoo. They show you the position of the tongue for the main harmonics! That should help you picture the hidden world of the didgeridoo! |
|
With sound, it's even better! Music is above all sound! Logically, the method comes with 95 audio tracks. You can listen to the exercises and then reproduce them, and also play the rhythms along with the recording. That should help you anchor the pulse! |
|
Wakatoo gives you the rhythm! In 2012, I created the Wakatoo card game to help players develop their own didgeridoo rhythms. All the rhythms in the method are written in this language. So if you are more visual than auditory, Wakatoo will help you understand the rhythms better. And for those who read music, the 60 rhythms are written in traditional notation at the end of the method! |
