This scale has a mystical resonance (hence the name) in the key of C# minor and is extremely popular with beginner players. Ideal for improvisation and musical expression, it also plays well with other common instruments. This scale is often used in a meditative way. How does it work? This handpan has 9 notes: a central note and eight notes arranged around it. The 8 notes are arranged to play the scale (ascending, descending) by alternating between the left and right hands. Using the whole hand, or just a single finger, the possibilities are endless.
