In short: The Koshi Ignis chime, Fire element, tuned to G major 9: a crystalline, relaxing sound, handmade in a workshop at the foot of the Pyrenees.

This model: With the Koshi signature and a touch of red, the Ignis model warms us with its Fire element. It is tuned to a G major 9 scale: G, B, D, G, B, D, G, A.

Playing it: Gently swing the chime, holding it by its cord: its crystalline, relaxing tone will enchant you. Hung up, it plays with the wind and carries you far away on an unexpected melody.

Anyone can play it: it is one of those instruments that immediately bring softness and relaxation, joy and calm.

How it is made: Each Koshi chime is the result of a refined craft technique. With 21 years of experience in creating chimes (Shanti in particular), the maker has developed a high-quality instrument.

The cylinder is made of bamboo veneer, stronger than natural bamboo, treated with natural oil: a true resonance tube. The eight metal rods are silver-soldered to a disc fixed at the base of the resonance body, which gives the sound more depth and enriches the harmonics.

The harmonics of the shortest rods gradually take over and become fundamental notes, forming a circular series of sounds. The tube measures 6.3 cm in diameter and 16.5 cm in length. A cord with a ring makes it easy to hang.

Care: Koshi chimes are treated with a natural finishing oil of high acoustic quality, which keeps their simple, natural look. Like any wooden object, however, they should be treated regularly with a protective oil (teak oil).
